Speech and Language Therapist
Aqeela is a Speech and Language Therapist at Mind Institute with experience in the United Kingdom and Brunei. Alongside her clinical work with children and adults, she brings experience in clinical supervision, mentoring and leading a speech and language therapy team.
In London, Aqeela worked across mainstream and specialist schools with Words First, progressing into mentoring and clinical supervision roles. She supported therapists through case discussions, feedback and reflective practice, and supervised university students during clinical placements.
Her work with children includes speech and language assessment and support for understanding and using language, social communication, attention and listening. She has worked with autistic children and children with ADHD and developmental language difficulties, collaborating with parents, teachers and other professionals to support communication at home and in school.
Previously, Aqeela worked as a Speech and Language Therapist and Team Lead at Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre in Brunei. Her adult clinical work spanned stroke rehabilitation, neurological conditions and cancer care, supporting people with communication and swallowing difficulties. She also led the therapy team and contributed to service development and clinical quality.
Aqeela holds a BSc (Hons) in Speech and Language Therapy from Leeds Beckett University. She has a particular clinical interest in autism and communication.
