Seven years ago, when we first walked into Mind, I was a mother filled with fear, confusion, and a thousand questions. Leen (my daughter) was almost three — full of potential but as a mother, I could feel something wasn’t right. She was nonverbal, couldn’t make eye
contact, couldn’t sit still, was easily distracted, and had major sensory issues. Everyday sounds — laughter, vacuum cleaners, even birthday parties — were too much for her. I still remember one family celebration when she stayed upstairs crying the entire time, unable to face the noise. Those were hard, uncertain days.
From the very first day, Mind opened their hearts to both me and Leen. They saw her for who she truly was, not just for her challenges. They listened, they observed, and designed a structured program that targeted her specific needs (and yes, they do that for every child!).
When we started, Leen trusted no one — not even me at times. No one could touch her hand, she resisted anything new, and every small change felt impossible. But Mind walked that path with us, step by step. They gave her space to express her frustration, taught her how to calm her body, and manage her emotions.
Over the years, Leen has gone through a daily intervention program designed especially for her — one that included, but was not limited to, academic sessions, speech therapy, and
occupational therapy. Each part of the program played a major role in her growth. Speech therapy helped her find her words, while occupational therapy addressed her sensory issues, strengthened her focus, improved her regulation, and boosted her confidence in daily life. Slowly, with love, patience, and structure, they helped her find balance. They redirected her energy into creativity, and that’s how we discovered her incredible love for singing and acting — now her favorite forms of self-expression.
The journey hasn’t been easy, and it’s still ongoing, but when I look at how far she’s come, the changes are unbelievable. The same child who once covered her ears and cried at the sound of a blow dryer now runs toward fireworks with excitement. Outings that were once impossible are now the highlight of our week — from children’s parks to boat rides, and even airports and airplanes, Leen finds joy in every adventure. She’s calmer, happier, and more willing to try new things. We still have a few areas to work on — food variety and expressing herself better are still a work in progress.
And the biggest miracle? The little girl who was once nonverbal now talks nonstop! She sings, tells stories, and keeps everyone entertained. Our home is full of her voice — and laughter.
Mind has been with us through every milestone, every challenge, and every breakthrough. From management to therapists, teachers, specialists, and admins — everyone has poured their heart into our journey. Their teamwork, structure, and compassion create an environment where children and parents feel safe, understood, and supported. Together, they’ve helped Leen grow into a calm, confident, and expressive young girl — something we once only dreamed of.
Mind isn’t just a center. It’s a home built on kindness, patience, and genuine belief in every child’s potential. They put their hearts and every effort into making a real difference in each child’s progress. For everything they’ve done for Leen and for us, I will forever be grateful.
